IBM LinuxONE Campaign Receives Six MarCom Awards

The IBM LinuxOne launch was an incredible partnership with IBM and a team-spanning effort across Centerline that included strategists, project managers, designers, animators, editors, composers and writers to get an astounding amount of work done on an aggressive time table. We worked together in an agile, collaborative fashion, and ultimately our hard work enabled IBM to receive six MarCom Awards and an additional one for the z13 launch.
About the Campaign
The LinuxONE launch campaign had to convince the developer audience that IBM is setting new standards in transaction volume, speed, security, and reliability for the open community. Centerline was deeply integrated with the messaging development from the very start. Before all assets for the event and the launch of LinuxONE could be created, we worked with IBM z to develop everything that defined the brand. This included the creation of a logo, characters and an expression guide.
To zoom in on the business value of LinuxONE, we created a Linux without Limits overview video—which is now one of the top 20 most watched IBM YouTube videos—that focused on the powerful suite of hardware, software, services and solutions from IBM that unleashes the full potential of Linux for business.
We also created a LinuxONE announcement video to be played during IBM z Systems General Manager Ross Mauri’s presentation, introducing the new family of Linux solutions.
And the Open Superheros video featured Vice President of Cloud Architecture and Technology, Angel Diaz, an Open Source expert and the perfect personality to introduce LinuxONE as IBM’s new open source platform.
The launch of the fourth major hardware brand for IBM Systems, LinuxONE, provided the opportunity to have conversations with people who are oftentimes difficult to reach with the mention of the mainframe. The thoughtful and non-traditional approach better reached and resonated with the Linux audience, capturing IBM as modern, provocative and future oriented. The brand work we did helped ensure there was consistency between all messaging of LinuxONE, both leading up to LinuxCon and following the announcement.
