Innovate Raleigh: Envested
Sep 20, 2016
“Local nonprofits are oftentimes struggling to secure the resources that they need, and so what Envested has done is opened funding channels to these local nonprofits so they can secure the resources to do the important work that matters most in our community.” – Isa Watson, CEO and Founder, Envested
Centerline is proud to be working with Innovate Raleigh on their Makers + Doers campaign, which aims to “bring to the forefront the fascinating people who make this community thrive.” We’re happy to introduce Envested, a company that came up with a “better way to give locally.”
“I come from a family that has really, really deep roots in community service and giving back to the community,” explains Watson.
So it makes sense that Watson, CEO and Founder of Envested, would dedicate her time to working with nonprofits. She describes Envested as a “social network giving platform connecting community members with local nonprofits.”
Envested works like a marketplace – nonprofits submit “challenges,” or specific fundraising needs. This tells donors exactly where their money is going when they donate to a specific challenge.
“We really think Envested can help empower people to transform their communities, and we do that by linking donors who are looking to engage with local nonprofits who are working on a variety of issues that are so important to this community – and really will strengthen this community if they get the resources they need,” explains Michael Weighs, head of community partnerships at Envested.
Envested currently works with 70 nonprofit partners in the Triangle area, and has helped them raise, at a very low cost, thousands of dollars, as well as reach hundreds of new donors.
When it came to filming their Makers + Doers video, Director David Puckett knew exactly how to showcase the people, and the purpose, behind Envested.
“Filming a story about an online platform was a bit of a challenge because the product only offered action on a computer screen. However, we managed to tell a visually compelling story about the people behind Envested, and how the company is contributing to the sustainability of local nonprofits.”
