Join Us For Spotlight 509
Apr 5, 2017
It’s easy to forget, when working amongst so many talented, passionate creatives, that the animations flashing across their screens, the images and video on their computers, aren’t their own artistic endeavors or their personal passion projects. That, in fact, they create their own art – in the form of paintings and drawings, jewelry, music, and even virtual reality and craft cocktails – on their own time as well.
The purpose of Spotlight 509 is to not only recognize those talents, but to celebrate them. Each year, we take a night and turn Centerline into a gallery to put art – big and small, traditional and unconventional – and the Centerliners who create it on display.
“Spotlight 509 was started to showcase the amazing creative talent at Centerline that goes far beyond creative studios,” said John Kaplan, creative director at Centerline and founder of Spotlight 509. “Honestly, the ‘a-ha!’ moment was when I found out Courtney Frye, our senior accountant, was so talented, but no one really knew. You don’t realize how much creative talent exists in all forms here – we’ve had people decorate cupcakes, or give shag lessons – whatever their creative outlet is.”
Prizes will be awarded for Best in Show, Honorable Mention, and People’s Choice.
Please join us from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, April 7th, at the Centerline office, 509 W. North Street, to toast our artists and innovators!
